The Do Dham Yatra, also known as the Two Sacred Shrine Yatra, is a popular pilgrimage journey in Uttarakhand, India. It involves visiting two significant Hindu pilgrimage sites, namely Yamunotri and Gangotri. These temples are dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and Goddess Ganga, respectively. The Do Dham Yatra offers devotees the opportunity to seek blessings and immerse themselves in the spiritual atmosphere of these holy places.

Yamunotri is situated at an altitude of approximately 3,291 meters (10,797 feet) in the Garhwal Himalayas. The temple is accessible by a trek of around 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) from the town of Janki Chatti. The Yamuna River, considered sacred by Hindus, originates from the Yamunotri glacier.

Gangotri is located at an altitude of around 3,100 meters (10,200 feet) in the Uttarkashi district. It is the source of the sacred River Ganga, which is worshiped by millions of devotees. The temple at Gangotri is easily reachable by road and is surrounded by beautiful mountain landscapes.

Day1Arrival in Haridwar/Rishikesh

* Arrive in Haridwar or Rishikesh, which are the starting points for the Do Dham Yatra. * Take some time to visit the famous temples and ghats in Haridwar or Rishikesh. * Attend the evening Ganga Aarti on the banks of the River Ganges. * Overnight stay in Haridwar or Rishikesh.

Day2Haridwar/Rishikesh to Barkot

* After breakfast, drive to Barkot (approximately 6-7 hours). * En route, you can visit the scenic towns of Mussoorie and Kempty Falls. * Reach Barkot and check into your accommodation. * Overnight stay in Barkot.

Day3Barkot to Yamunotri and Return to Barkot

* Start early and drive to Janki Chatti (approximately 1-2 hours). * Begin the trek from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri (approximately 6 kilometers). * Visit the Yamunotri Temple and take a dip in the hot springs. * Trek back to Janki Chatti and drive back to Barkot. * Overnight stay in Barkot.

Day4Barkot to Uttarkashi

* After breakfast, drive from Barkot to Uttarkashi (approximately 4-5 hours). * Visit the Vishwanath Temple and other attractions in Uttarkashi. * Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.

Day5Uttarkashi to Gangotri and Return to Uttarkashi

* After breakfast, drive to Gangotri (approximately 4-5 hours). * Visit the Gangotri Temple and take a holy dip in the River Ganges. * Explore the scenic surroundings and enjoy the tranquility. * Return to Uttarkashi in the evening. * Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.

Day6Uttarkashi to Haridwar/Rishikesh

* After breakfast, check out from your accommodation in Uttarkashi. * Drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh (approximately 6-7 hours). * Reach Haridwar/Rishikesh and conclude your Do Dham Yatra. * You can explore more of Haridwar/Rishikesh or proceed with your onward journey.
